Walton County, Florida - Flood Community Rating Change
It has come to our attention that the Community Rating System Class and Discount for Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHA) has changed for Walton County. The Community Rating System is a voluntary program offered to communities by FEMA and the National Flood Insurance Program. Communities that develop and execute extra measures beyond the minimum floodplain management requirements receive additional discounts.
As of the October 1, 2019 Flood Insurance Rate Manual, the CRS Class was 5 and the Discount for SFHA properties was 25%.
As of the May 1, 2020 Flood Insurance Rate Manual, the CRS Class was 6 and the Discount for SFHA properties was 20%.
What does this mean? Properties in Flood Zones A and V (Special Flood Hazard Areas) will see an additional increase in premium as a result of the change in the Community Rating System Class for Walton County, Florida.
