The CARES Act and Qualifying For A Health Tax Credit

How the CARES Act affects your Modified Adjusted Gross Income
The CARES Act and Unemployment Insurance Payments, Stimulus Payments

When applying for individual health insurance, with the health insurance tax credit, one of the questions asked is: What income is counted when applying for the health insurance tax credit (also known as the Advance Premium Tax Credit or APTC).

This page on healthcare.gov reviews what income you should include when applying for the Advance Premium Tax Credit.

You must include unemployment compensation insurance when applying for the Advance Premium Tax Credit, but the CARES Act exempts your one-time cash payment for individuals, also called recovery rebates or stimulus checks. So, you don't have to count this as income when applying for the individual health insurance tax credit.
